I have been talking about, thinking about, and planning to blog regularly since this past spring. The problem is that LIFE kept getting in the way…
I even took the time to have my website professionally designed (what do you think?) thank you Lisa Marcia from The Little Mustard Seed, I LOVE IT!!!
So why did it take me FOREVER to start???
My Reasons for blogging, became my excuses for procrastination. Have you ever had that happen to you?
Then, once the excuses creep in, comparison kicks in. I would see other authors and bloggers living their dream and sharing powerful and wonderful things…and start to doubt and question if I need to do this in the first place.
Why do I share this with you?
Because, my friend, whether it is blogging, reading, learning, exercising, eating healthy, praying…
The answer is to simply BEGIN…
To make the time for the desires of your heart and to trust the process.
To step out of your comfort zone and remain in your gift zone (thank you John C. Maxwell for that beautiful prompt).
I let the “what if’, or the “I can’t” hold me back…
Lately the Scripture “I can do all things through Christ, Who gives me strength” was spoken over me through a book I am reading on parenting. The author mentions that when our children tell us they can’t, have them quote Philippians 4:13 and remember that even if they can’t, Christ can.
So, why doest that change when we become an adult? (that is a rhetorical question)
It does not change…HE does not change…So WHAT needs to change???
And our Schedules.
So here are the many EXCUSES that I held onto this summer that held me back from beginning again in my journey to blog and one day write a book/devotional:
- I have 6 kids
- My husband works many many hours
- We are remodeling our home
- My son’s special needs and therapies for his language
- I am tired
- I do not know what to say
- What if no one reads this?
- We have too much to manage in our home already
The list can go on…
You may look at the list and say….
“Kelley, those are valid reasons”
Yes…Yes they are, except one thing.
I have this nagging and burning tug at my heart to do this. I feel called, I have wanted to write since a child…and when I write and share I feel connected, filled, and closer to the Lord. This is a lifeline he has given me, a gift that he has given me…
And here is the gut-check part: when I listen to my excuses, I am burying my talent.
So what do we do? We simply Just Begin…
Does that mean I blog every day?
Does it mean I neglect my key priorities?
Does it have to be perfect?
It means I re-align my goals, make time for my priorities, and focus on baby steps.
It applies to EVERY thing in our life.
If you feel called to take better care of you, than Just BEGIN.
If you feel called to wake up early to pray, than Just BEGIN.
If you feel called to spend more time doing x,y,z, than Just BEGIN.
That first step is the hardest part…it is the conquering of the excuses and making them your reason…your WHY…your FUEL…
So today, my friends I am Beginning Again. I invite you to join me as I share from my Many Many thoughts that stir in my heart and soul in hopes they will bless you along the way of your journey and show you that you are loved, you have value, and you are NEVER alone.
